Preface

This article deals with Graha Sphut Drishti mainly and with the personal life of Narendra Modi. To know about Aspects of planets please refer to my article on Drishti Bheda. As indicated in the same article, there is a mathematical method to find Drishti which gives Quantum of Drishti between houses and planets or planets and planets.

To my amazement when I searched Google for Graha Sphut Drishti calculations, I found no website deals with this. Very few mention this, those websites too only inform that there is something like this but none deals with its calculations. It was sad.

There are three kinds of websites. One for self-promotion leaves them. Another for promotion as well as teaching [my website is in this category] third are only educational websites. It was disheartening to see that neither second nor third type of websites gives this vital information.

However, Here in this article you will find worked out Graha Sphut Drishti of both Internal and External planets on both other planets and Bhavas which fall under their full aspect and out their full aspect, for the ease of learning.

Even books give you examples [One BPHS out of 9 to be honest] but they never tell you things like when Aspector’s Rashi is less than aspected then add 12 to Rashi of aspect. If this vital information is not given then I am unable to understand how will a student learn. Do we write books for other astrologers and not for students, or we don’t want to teach at all. However, before we go to work our Sphut Drishti let me give some other information about the chart.

Adopted Methodology 

In this chart, Sodashottari Dasha is applicable due to birth being in Sun Hora in Shukla Paksha [Bright Fortnight]. Now we need to decide to start Dasha from either Moon or Lagna [How to decide strength, I am not revealing now] Here both are equally strong.

Then we see Lagna in Swati and Moon in Anuradha. In Sodashottari Dasha, Swati is owned by Venus and Anuradha by Mars.

Here Mars is in its own sign but with a debilitated Moon and Debilitated in Navansha whereas Venus is Vargottama. Which makes Venus strong [Vargottama is thrice strong whereas Own Rashi is twice strong only]. Thus we calculate Sodashottari Dasha from Lagna.

Graha Sphut Drishti Calculations  

The real method is: Suppose we need to find the aspect between Venus and Jupiter in Narendra Modi’s chart.

Venus is at Leo 15.38 which will be written as 4.15.38 because Venus has completed 4 signs from Aries [Up to Cancer and is in 5^th sign Leo] at 15 Degree 38 Minutes.

Similarly, Jupiter who is at Aquarius 06.36 will be written as 10.06.36

Now, as we need to subtract Venus from Jupiter and Venus is behind Jupiter in the zodiac we need to add 360 degrees to Venus which means 12 signs that makes Venus as 12.00.00+4.15.38 = 16.15.38
This needs to be subtracted from Jupiter who is at 10.09.36. This gives the answer as 06.06.02. Now as it is more than 6 we need to subtract It from 10 signs and divide by two [Refer to the article on Drsti Bheda where I have given calculation rules], Now: 10.00.00-06.06.02 = 03.23.58.

To divide it from two converts Rashi into degrees. One Rashi is 30 degrees, Thus 3 Rashi will have 30*3 = 90 degrees to this add 23 degrees which comes to be 90+23=113 Degrees. Now divide this by 2. This gives 56.5 degrees. This is the aspect of Venus over Jupiter which is 56.5 out of 60.00

But for ease of learning and calculations, I am giving another simple but equally potent method. 

Theory: We need to find the difference between two planets. We need three things Degree to be traversed by aspecting planet to reach the end of the sign, Degree of difference between Aspected and Aspecting planet and Degree of advancement of Aspected planet in his sign.

We can do the same by Subtracting the Degree and Minutes of the aspecting planet from 30.60 and then the difference between sign will be found from counting from aspecting to aspected planet.

See here Venus is of 15 Degree 38 Minute Subtract this from 30 Degree 60 Minute this gives 15 Degree 22 Minute keep this at one place. Now between Venus and Jupiter, there is the 12^th house, Ascendant, 2^nd house, 3^rd house and 4^th house five houses. Now add 5 before them 5.15.22 in this add degree and Minute of Jupiter who is at 06 Degree 36 Minutes this becomes, 05.15.22 + 00.06.36 = 05.21.58

This we see is more than 5 Rashi. For more than 5 Rashi it is written to leave Rashi and double Degree and Minutes. So it will be 21+21 = 42; 58+58=116 Hence, 42.116 Now 116-60 [Because there are 60 Minutes in a degree] gives 56. Thus what we do is, add one to 42 because one multiple of 60 is taken from 116 and write the answer as 43.56 as an aspect between Venus and Jupiter.

43.56 Out of 60.00: This comes equal to what “Jagannath Hora” shows but keep in mind the real method is the one given above.

So, Let’s find the quantum of aspect of Jupiter over Venus: Jupiter is in Aquarius 06 Degree 36 Minute, 06.36-30.60 = 24.24; Now add to this 5 Signs [6th house, 7th house, 8th house, 9th house and 10th house] This becomes 5.24.24 + Degree of Venus 15.38; Now it becomes 5.39.62
Because of 62, removing 60 from it, Becomes 5.40.02. Because of 40 [One sign of 30 degrees] Make it 6.30.02
Now because of it being more than 6, Minus from 10.00.00 and divide by 2. Hence, 10.00.00 – 06.30.02 = 03.00.58
Now convert 03 Signs into degree; 03*30 = 90. Now divide by 2. 90/2=45
This means 45 out of 60 is an aspect of Jupiter over Venus.

Now, the Aspect of Venus over Jupiter is 43.56 and Jupiter over Venus is 45.00; For sake of calculations make it 43.00+45.00 = 88.00 Divide it by two 44.00 Out of 60.00
Now for sake of convenience let’s convert it out of 100. For that what we do is: 44/60 X 100 = 73.333333333333333
which means 73% Aspect.

Mars throws his 4th aspect on Jupiter: Mars is in Scorpio 0 Degree 54 Minute, Subtract this from 30.60 which comes to 30.06 In this add 2 sign. [3rd house and 4th house] Comes to, 2.30.6; In this add Jupiter’s degree and Minute; 02.30.06+00.06.36 = 2.36.42 [Degree more than 30, Leave 30 and increase Rashi] 3.06.42. This is more than 3 for that In the last article it is written to “If more than 3, Subtract from 4, Divide by 2 and add 30.” Thus; 04.00.00-03.06.42 = 00.24.18; Now Divide 24/2 = 12 Add 30 to this. 12+30=42. For Mars, because he has a special aspect, It is written “For Mars add 15 more in aspect on 4th and 8th houses.” Thus; 42+15=57 out of 60. Convert this out of 100. Thus; 57/60X100 = 95. 95% Aspect of Mars over Jupiter.

These were aspects on other planets, Now let’s find aspects on Bhava’s
In Vedic Astrology, I consider [As of now] Equal Bhava System (I use bhava chart very rarely). As per this system Degree and Minutes of Lagna becomes a middle point of Each and every Bhava. 

Let’s find aspect of Moon over 8th Bhava: Moon is at Scorpio 7.58 – 30.60 = 23.2; Difference will be 5 signs because one sign we left [Of moon] One sign is under consideration [8th] remains 5 signs [7-2=5] Hence it becomes 5.23.02 + Longitude of 8th house, Same as Lagna = 05.23.02+00.12.21 = 05.35.23 [Degree 35, Subtract 30] 06.05.23. Now for more than 6 Signs, Subtract from 10 and Divide by 2. Hence; 10.00.00-06.05.23 = 03.25.37. Now Convert 03.23 into degrees. 03×30=90+25 = 115/2=57.5 out of 60.00; Covert this into % 57.5/60X100=95.83%

Let’s Find Saturn’s aspect over Lagna: Saturn is at 29.39 Leo. Thus; 30.60-29.39=01.21. Add one sign to this [12th house] 1.01.21 + 0.12.21 [Lagna degrees] = 1.13.42. In Drsti-Bheda’s article for more than 1 degree, it is written as “f more than 1, leave Rashi and half the degrees. This gives quantum of aspects.” So, Here; 13/2=6.5; For the aspect of Saturn it is written as “For Saturn add 45 more in aspect on 3rd and 10th house” Thus; 6.5+45=51.5 our of 60.00. Thus 51.5/60X100=85.8333% aspect.

For houses not under special aspect or normal aspect, no addition must be made. Let us see Two examples of houses, where there is no aspect. 

The aspect of Sun over 7th house: Degree of Sun 0.33 Virgo; 30.60-00.33=30.27. Add 6 signs to this; 06.30.27. Now add lagna degree; 06.30.27+00.12.21=06.42.48 [More than 42, Minus 30 and increase Rashi]Thus, 07.12.48. More than 6 Signs thus subtract from 10.00.00 Hence; 10.00.00-07.12.48=02.18.12. Convert 02.18 into a degree. 02*30=60+18=78/2=39 Out of 60. Now, 39/60X100=65%. Less than 75% out of consideration.

The aspect of Mercury over 3rd house: Mercury is at Virgo 0.51 – 30.60 = 30.09, Difference is of Lagna only. Hence; 01.30.09+00.12.21=1.42.30. Convert this to 2.12.30. Now for more than 2 “If more than 2, Leave Rashi and add 15 in Degrees” Thus 12+15=27 out of 60. Hence, 27/60X100=45% aspect.

Analysis of Birth Chart

Family of grocers: 2nd house indicate family and 2nd house with Moon indicates Food and livelihood which indicates grocery items.

Third of 6 children: In Bhinnaashtakavarga of Mars, 3rd from Mars is having 5 points which indicate 5 siblings. One Mr Narendra Modi and 5 brothers and sisters of him. in D3, 11th lord Sun is with two planets Mercury [Exalted] and Ketu which must have given him one elder brother and sister. Jupiter who is the 3rd lord of Rashi is retrograde in Lagna. Retrograde planets are taken to indicate thrice in longevity, progeny and siblings. From Google what I know is he have one sister. I think she must be elder, Sun with Ketu. Rest all brothers.

Completed Senior Secondary in 1967: Sun-Ketu/Moon: Moon is in 9th house in D24 with Jupiter a benefic, Due to conjunction of a planet, aspects are being ignored. Thus must have given him completion after 11 March 1967.

At age 8 discovered RSS and started attending local  Sakha (Branch): Venus-Moon/Mercury: It must be Mercury antardasha because Mercury was placed in the 9th house of D20 with Sun. The 9th house indicates temples or such places and Sun indicates a rise to power. This way rectification needs to be done.

Engaged while still a child to Jashodaben a girl from a family who lived close by. Modi rejected the arranged marriage at the same time he graduated from high school. The resulting family tension contributed to his decision to leave home in 1967: We found he must have passed in Sun-Moon, Now see here, Here comes the depth of Vedic Jyotish from which people are afraid of and then resort to fancy looking techniques.
The basic rule of astrology states that the planet takes the nature of the planet with whom he is placed. Here 7th lord Mars is with debilitated Moon, enough reason to make him run away from marriage. In D9 this same moon is the 7th lord who deposits debilitated Mars [7th lord of Lagna] for enough reasons. But still, let me share a secret not completely but partially. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra states that 4 Aprakash Graha [Non-Luminious planets, BPHS names them, I am not sharing names, To be shared in Marriage Article] If makes any connection in these two Divisional charts [One is D60 and another is a divisional chart which is not D9] with 7th house then one may never marry [Which I take as either never marry or never consummate it] I have a methodology to Mark Rashi of 7th house and 7th lord and see if these Rashi’s have any one of these 5 Non Luminous planets then such results can happen. In his chart this happens in both divisional charts, This underlines the importance of debilitated Moon with Mars and makes it very clear why it happened in Sun-Moon. This also validates the importance of Conditional Dasha’s and the Importance of Lagna as reference. Which divisional chart must be seen for running away from home, Not D4. Parashara advises it for luck “Turyanshe Bhagyachinatanam” We need to see D30. Here Moon is in the 10th house in Virgo and Mercury is in the 6th house in Taurus with Sun and Mars indicating due to pressure from elders he took this decision. Moon is with Rahu [Master of such activities]

Modi spends ensuring two years travelling across Northern and North-East India: It happens in Moon antardasha as well as in Mercury’s. Deity of Trimsamsa are deities of directions too. Which mean the planet that is directionless [Dig Bala less] suffers most in D30. See Moon is in the 10th house and Mercury in the 6th house, both in opposite houses from where they get their Digbala. Which indicates them weak/afflicted and hints that their Dasha will become troubled. as D30 indicates miseries and ill-happenings.

Before travelling back to Gujrat via Delhi and Rajasthan in 1968-69, Sometime in late 1969 or early 1970, Modi returned to Vadnagar for a brief visit before leaving again for Ahmedabad. Their Modi lived with his uncle working in the latter’s canteen: Sun-Mercury: In D1 chart of the body we find Mercury in 12th house aspecting 6th house which indicates association with uncle/relatives.

After the Indo-Pak war of 1971, He stopped working for his uncle and became a full-time pracharak of RSS, Working under Imamdar. Shortly before the war, Modi took part in a non-violent protest against the Indian Government in New Delhi, for which he was arrested. This has been cited as a reason for Imamdar electing to mentor him. Many years later Modi would co-author a biography of Imamdar, Published in 2001: Indo-Pak war was from 3 December 1971 to 16 December 1971. Events must have happened in Sun-Venus. Venus being 8th lord in 11th house of bondage aspected by 6th lord Jupiter indicates Jail. Jupiter being 3rd lord also indicated a book which was published later in Saturn-Moon. This Venus is in exchange with Saturn in D10. This is an exchange between the 4th and 12th houses which indicates struggle for power as well as confinement.

In 1978, Modi had BA in Political Science from SOL at DU with 3rd class: Mars-Moon: We are again reminded of Moon in D24 in 9th house with Jupiter, without even looking at D24. Such is the brilliance of the right dasha with the right reference. Mars aspects 9th house of higher education. One may ask why Political Science, whose answer is in 9th house of higher education in D24 there is Jupiter who is strong by dint of having Neech-Bhanga. Why not Moon’s education [Because he is in exchange with Saturn] exchange of 3rd and 9th house which gave him both breaks between Bachelor’s and Master’s degree as well as Distance education, 3rd and 9th along with 8th and 12th houses indicate travelling. When we handle such a case when a house indicates both things and we are handling one then we have to use the principle of similarity. Like, in this case, the 9th house indicates both Travel as well as education but due to it being D24, it is mainly education. but due to being clubbed with 3rd house, by dint of exchange, it promotes similar significations of both houses which is travel. This is why sage Parashara has said best Raajyoga is exchanged between 9th and 10th house because it highlights their similar traits of high position and authority. This way exchange is to be interpreted. A Very fine example isn’t it?

Five years later, He received MA in Political Science from Gujrat University as an External Distance Learning Student:  Mind the above comment about the exchange of 9th and 3rd house in his D24. Mars-Sun – In his D24, Mars is debilitated in 3rd house and conjunct with planet causing exchange who is also 9th lord. This justifies the completion of distance education in his Dasha along with the type of education being distance. Antardasha is of Sun. I can justify it easily but before that. Let me demonstrate how to find in which Antardasha event is likely to happen out of Many antardasha choices. There are two ways for it, One is to use the mind. That is if one will have admission this year then he is likely to pass this year and then see Antardasha and decide. But there must be another completely Astrological method.

For any event to happen, Lord of Antardasha and Pratyantardasha must have a connection with that house or lord. Or lord of that house from Rashi chakra and connection must be in the concerned divisional chart. It is doesn’t happen then be sure that it needs some rectification. How we do this will be illustrated in a separate article dealing exclusively with Birth Time Rectification.

Now we see here, House of higher education is 9th there is Moon and Jupiter in D24. Lord of that house is with Sun, Mars and Mercury. Mercury lords 9th house of D1 and Saturn rules the 5th house of D1. Only these planets in their Dasha and Antardasha, Pratyantardasha can give event none else. These rules will work fantastically provided you have selected Right Dasha with the right seed. This will be illustrated in a separate article.

Here Sun is with the 9th lord of D1 and D24 and also with the 5th lord of D1. This Sun being with Mars is not weak. Doesn’t matter Mars is debilitated he still is Agni Tattwa, If Mars was not there Sun must not have given results due to his weakness. Weak planets cease to give results.

Let me also reveal level two of this technique. Parashara has said that everything must be seen from D45 and D60, I won’t reveal anything about D45 but if everything needs to be seen from D60 too then these planets must have a connection with the lord of the 9th house of D24 and Lord of 9th and 5th house of D1 in D60 to give educational results in their Dasha. We see that in his D60, Mercury is with Sun and is under the aspect of Jupiter [Retrograde also aspects from the previous house] and Mars aspects Saturn, who is with Ketu. This gives us Moon [Will come with Jupiter if he aspects, and will share his effects due to conjunction] Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Ketu and Mars as planets who can give education to the native. Leave Ketu as he doesn’t make any connection with them in D24. There are 6 layers to this technique, But let me leave the remaining 4 layers for some other time.

His marriage was arranged by his parents when he was a child. He was engaged at age 13 to Jasodaben, Marrying her when she was 18. They spent little time together and grew apart when Modi began two years of travel. Reportedly the marriage was never consummated and he kept it a secret because otherwise, he could not have become a Pracharak in the puritan RSS: At age 13 at the time of engagement, he must have been in either Sun-Mars/Jupiter: Shri Swami Abhedananda in his book A study of Heliocentric Science writes that Gemini is the sign which signifies engagement. Here Jupiter aspects Gemini and from previous house [Retrograde] lord of Gemini [Mercury] Sun is with Mercury.

Marriage at 18: 1968: Sun-Moon/Mercury: One can safely ignore Rashi Chart for marriage, as it relates to the physical plane and in this case, marriage was not consummated. In Navansha Sun aspects 7th house, He is with Mercury, also Moon being 7th lord of Navansha can also give marriage. We can’t decide from it. Now we need to go to D60. Sun is in Libra whose depositor being exalted is with depositor of Mars and under Martian aspect. [In a previous article I have said about the importance of Depositors in Nakshatra Dasha’s] Now Mercury is in D60 lagna, and Moon is in an exchange with Saturn between  5th and 10th house. Now, this indicates that if Moon gave him marriage it will lead to the death of a few children and natives being adulterous, Which is not the case here, Hence we can safely say Marriage must have happened in Sun-Mercury.

Now, How do we analyse his marriage? Rashi: 7th house devoid of any aspect, If this happens in a female chart we say Her husband will not engage in any profession and will remain in the home, living under the money of his wife. But this is a male chart. We go to its lord then [The Order is Planet in Bhava, If not then aspect on Bhava if not then Lord of Bhava] Lord of Bhava is in own house but with debilitated Moon. Here we see influences, First influence is of any planet with a planet [Here, Moon] If not then aspect, if not then depositor. Here it is Moon, Who lord’s 10th house. 10th house in terms of marriage indicates extramarital affairs and some sexual tendencies which I don’t want to discuss. Basically, it indicates the Sexual life of a person being 10th with Lagna [Karma of a person is to produce offsprings, also 4th of 7th – Comfort from marriage, 11th from 12th – Gains of bed pleasures] Here it’s lord being debilitated with 7th lord [Its lord being debilitated may also have shown professional setbacks, but remember the rule of similarity, here he is with the lord of 7th, which now indicates denial of sexuality for the native concerned] but this Moon and Mars is also in Pushkar, I don’t want to discuss this area. Let’s move over.

D9: 7th house is having debilitated Mars with no neech bhanga at all. This indicates superimposed Brahmacharya over marriage. Moon is in 9th house under Saturnine aspect. The 7th house is under the aspect of 8th lord Sun as well as 6th lord Mercury clear indication of separation and Brahmacharya.

D60: 7th house empty, comes under the aspect of Sun and Mercury, Lord of 11th 12th and 9th houses.

The great Parashari Yoga: I am not going to share the Yoga for no marriage or no consummation. But will share yoga with a story.
A Girl was consulting me, Gemini lagna, Rahu-Venus and Mars in 7th house. She said everyone who looks at my horoscope said that I am an extremely sexual girl but it is not the case, you also said I am cold. How came you know this, which everyone missed. Then I told her that people read only Sexual Yoga and not their counter combinations.
Parashara states that if in a chart 6th lord have any connection with 7th lord or Vice Versa then one will not be interested in sexual relationships.
Here is your chart, Mars is the 6th lord in the 7th house being strong by virtue of Vargottama.

In the case of Shri Modi. This yoga happens in D9, What does this mean. If this yoga happens in D1 only then one will refrain from sexual affairs but will marry and continue his/her dharma. If in D9 [The chart of marriage then, He will superimpose this in his marital life creating dissatisfaction and grief], If in D60 then he may not marry at all. If in all of them then one can decide using his own discrimination powers.

In D9 we see further 7th lord in the 9th house of Dharma and Travel. 7th house under the aspect of 8th lord of transformation and travel again, and lord of 6th brahmacharya and struggle. You can ask why for two years: 7th lord Moon of D9 have progressed only Two navansha. Hence two years. In the female chart 8th house indicates a break in marriage and in the male chart this is indicated from the 2nd house. Here 2nd house is having a debilitated Moon but Mars is in his own house, He doesn’t live with his wife but hasn’t got a divorce either.

Many other events are to be justified like honours, his travels to countries and other things. But for the sake of the length of the Article. Let me leave those for some other time on some other chart.
